Her qualifications include a postgraduate degree in India, MRCOG (UK), and FRANZCOG (Australia). During her AGES Fellowship in Sydney, she received the Outstanding Trainee Presentation Award in recognition of her research.
Dedicated to delivering high-quality, evidence-based care, Dr Rao combines advanced surgical expertise with a compassionate, patient-centred approach to support women through every stage of their treatment journey.
Minimally invasive surgery is now considered the standard of care for many gynaecological conditions, with laparoscopic and robotic techniques offering significant advantages. Evidence shows these approaches can result in faster recovery, less post-operative pain, reduced blood loss, and shorter hospital stays. For surgeons, enhanced visualisation and precision supports accurate surgical outcomes, particularly in complex procedures.
Training across multiple centres has equipped Dr Rao with the expertise to manage challenging surgical cases, including hysterectomy for large uteri, excision of Stage 4 endometriosis, removal of multiple fibroids, large ovarian cysts, and surgery for women with a high BMI.
Dr Rao believes every woman should play an active role in decisions about her care. Through a shared decision-making approach, she takes the time to discuss treatment options, answer questions, and develop a personalised management plan. This ensures each patient feels heard, informed, and confident in her healthcare decisions.
